Overview

If you’re already selling on eBay and want to use Omnivore or eBaylink, you can usually keep your existing listings. This allows you to retain your sales history and any users “watching” your items.

This FAQ explains how linking existing listings works and how to set it up. It’s recommended to read the full article before attempting to link or manage your listings.

Please note: We cannot guarantee that any listings can be linked. You will need to install the app, connect to your eBay store, and attempt to link a listing to confirm whether it works. Some listings may have been created via a method which can prevent linking.

How it Works

The integration imports products from your eCommerce store and then imports your active eBay listings. Each eBay listing is matched to a product in the integration platform based on the product title. If a match isn’t found automatically, you can search and select the correct product manually.

Once you confirm the correct match, you “LINK” the product. After linking, the platform takes control of the listing and updates it on eBay with the product data from your store—such as title, description, price, and inventory. The original eBay listing ID is retained, so sales history and watchers remain intact.

The integration also captures the eBay category of each product and applies it to the product in your platform, saving time during setup.

Steps to Get Set Up

Step 1: Connect to your eCommerce Store

  • Depending on your platform, use the available app, extension, or plugin to connect your store. See Install the App for further details.

Step 2: Set up the eBay Marketplace

  • When installing the app, select eBay Australia as your marketplace. Complete the setup wizard, which includes:
    • Authorising access to your eBay account

    • Setting up your Returns, Payment, and Shipping policies

    • Completing your eBay Product Listing Template

  • After setup, you’ll be directed to the Omnivore/eBay Link dashboard.

Step 3: Link your existing eBay listings

  • Go to Products > eBay Australia
  • Click the Link eBay Listings tab.
    • Imported eBay listings appear on the left, and the matched product from your platform appears on the right.

    • Review each listing to decide whether to keep it or end it:

      • To remove a listing from eBay, click End Listing on eBay

      • To keep a listing, verify or adjust the matched product and click Link

  • Once linked, the integration takes control of the listing. Product data from your platform—title, description, price, inventory—will update on eBay, while retaining the original listing ID and sales history.

Errors & Cautions When Linking

Linking and taking control of existing eBay listings is not always guaranteed. This is particularly true if the listings were originally uploaded to eBay using a different integration tool.

A common error you may encounter is:

“Could not link products automatically. You can try to manually replace the SKU in the Custom Label field in your eBay Seller Hub.”

If you see this error:

  • Attempting to manually update the SKU in eBay may allow linking.

  • If eBay returns an error when changing the SKU, the listing cannot be linked and must be ended.

Caution: If you try to manually replace SKUs in eBay, proceed carefully. For guidance, contact our Support Team before making changes.

Scenarios

The PRICE is different on the existing listing to the price in Omnivore/eBaylink

  • If the price on an existing eBay listing differs from the price in Omnivore/eBaylink, linking the product will update the eBay listing to use the price from Omnivore/eBay Link, which is imported from your eCommerce store.
  • If you want to change the price of the product in Omnivore/eBaylink, you can set up a promotion.

Listed on eBay with no match in Omnivore

  • Search for a product by typing a minimum of 3 letters in the box. If we are unable to match to a product in Omnivore you will see the message shown below.

Listing on eBay, but no matching product in your eCommerce Store

  • If you have a product listed on eBay that doesn’t exist in your eCommerce store, create the product in your store with matching details. Once created, Omnivore/eBay Link will import the new product, you can then match and link the product.

Blocked Products in Omnivore

  • If a product is blocked in Omnivore, it will not be listed on eBay. Linking a blocked product to an existing listing will end that listing.
  • To link without ending the listing, go to the All Products tab and unblock the product first.

Inactive Products

  • An inactive product in Omnivore/eBay Link means it was previously imported from your eCommerce store but is no longer active—this could be due to it being hidden or being deleted.

Linking an inactive product to an existing eBay listing will end that listing.

To link without ending the listing:

    1. Reactivate the product in your eCommerce store by adding inventory or making it active.

    2. Perform a full sync in Omnivore/eBay Link by going to the Dashboard and clicking Import from <eCommerce store>.

Unlinked Listings and Failed Orders

  • If an existing listing is not linked to a product in Omnivore and not ended on eBay it will remain available for purchase however, any orders will fail in Omnivore/eBaylink since the SKU on the order cannot be matched to a product. These orders will appear as "Retailer Notified Failure" and must be handled manually.
