Overview
Kogan requires sellers to specify the location from which products are shipped. This guide explains how to set product locations and manage GST.
Adding Product Location
You can add product locations in two ways:
Single shipping location:
Go to Settings → Kogan → General.
In the Your Products section, select the country from the dropdown menu.
Multiple shipping locations:
Go to Products → On Kogan.
Select a product, then navigate to the Marketplace Attributes tab to set its location individually.
Note: Kogan will add GST to product prices if the product location differs from the country you are selling in.
Tax Guidelines By Seller And Marketplace
Use the following use cases to determine the best approach for you.
AU Seller, Selling on Kogan AU
All product prices should include GST and the product location should be Australia.
If you have any products shipped from another country:
< AU$1,000 before tax → Set correct location; Kogan will add 10% GST and remit it to the ATO.
> AU$1,000 before tax → Prices must include GST; you are responsible for remitting GST to the ATO.
AU Seller, Selling on Kogan NZ
Set the product location to Australia, or another country if they are shipped from overseas.
For products < NZ$1,000 → Kogan adds 15% GST and remits it to the NZ Govt.
For products > NZ$1,000 → Prices must include GST; you are responsible for remitting it.
NZ Seller, Selling on Kogan NZ
Set product location to New Zealand.
Prices must include GST; you are responsible for remitting it to the NZ Govt.
Sellers Outside AU or NZ
Set the product location to your country.
Products < $1,000 (AUD/NZD) → Kogan adds GST and remits it.
Products > $1,000 (AUD/NZD) → Prices must include GST; you are responsible for remitting it.
Tip: If unsure about GST or product location rules, contact Kogan during onboarding or when listing new products.
