TABLE OF CONTENTS
To comply with eBay’s policy against external links in descriptions, you can strip out URLs or specific words from your product descriptions using a Description template in Omnivore.
Create a Description template
- In Omnivore, go to:
Settings → eCommerce Platform Feed → General e.g. for WooCommerce it would be Settings - WooCommerce Feed - General
- You’ll see a blank “Description template” field — by default, Omnivore uses your store’s standard product description.

- To remove a link, in the template’s Find field, enter the exact URL (or phrase) you want to remove.
- Click the green plus (+) to add it. If you have more links or words to remove, repeat as needed.
- Once done, click Update at the bottom of the page.
- You’ll then see code appear in the template box — this code tells Omnivore to remove those links/words when listing to eBay.
- Finally, perform a full import and then upload to eBay so the changes take effect in your live listings.

Things To Keep In Mind
- The template you create is applied to all your eBay listings. If you only want to remove links on certain items, you would need to use a product action instead.
- If you’re removing multiple items, use multiple “Find” entries. To replace text instead of just removing, use both Find and Replace.
- If your text contains a dollar sign ($), you need to escape it with a backslash first (e.g.
\$). . For example if you want to remove the text "Special Offer $20 off for Spring" you would need to enter "Special Offer \$20 off for Spring".
