This FAQ shows you how to add a custom brand attribute field on WooCommerce. This is useful if you don't want to use your Woo Commerce store name, or if you have products with different brand names.

About the Brand Attribute Field on WooCommerce

The brand displayed on your product listings originates from your store name set on WooCommerce and is applied by default to all products.

Setting a brand attribute up enables you to change your store brand name across all products, or to use different brand names for specific products.

How to change the Brand Attribute Field

To accomplish this all you need to do is add a Brand attribute field to your products on WooCommerce.

  1. Go to the Products menu item, then select Attributes. The attributes screen opens.
  2. Add the Name and the Slug of the attribute in the designated fields. In this example we have used 'My Brand' but you can use anything you like, just 'Brand' is usually enough.
  3. Then click Add Attribute and you will see the new attribute appear in the list on the right.

  4. Next, click the Configure terms link. A new screen will open. You can add the terms of the attribute there. More precisely, you can add the names of the brands you feature on your site.

  5. On the next screen add the terms to the Brand attribute. Add the Name, Slug, and Description to the Brand attribute. In this example, we have entered 'Special Brand Name' as our brand. Your brand names will be the respective brands associated with your products. Then click Add New Brand.

  6. Go to the Products menu item in the Admin menu, and select the desired Product from the overview (not shown in the image below). Once you open the Product edit page, scroll down to the WooCommerce product data box, and select the Attributes tab.

Click on the dropdown box that says Custom Product attribute and select your Brand. Then, click the Add button.

  7. The Brand will be added and some additional options will appear.

  8. Next, select the brand value. To do so, just click on the empty box below Values. The Brand values you have added will appear. Select the one you want (in this case: Special Brand Name). Click Save Attributes. That will add the Brand attribute to the product page.

  9. Click the Update button at the top of the Product editing screen to save the new settings. Once complete, return to the Omnivore dashboard and click on the Import from WooCommerce button.

Once the import has completed, return to Omnivore dashboard click on Settings - WooCommerce - Map Fields and map the new Brand field from your WooCommerce store (this is the column on the left titled Your data fields) to the Brand field on the Omnivore Map Fields (this is the column on the right titled Omnivore data fields).

Tip: If you're unsure about the field name that contains your brand data, just export all your products from WooCommerce to a .csv file then check the title of the column that contains the brand data for your products. This will be the name of the field as it appears on the left hand side column on Omnivore

Once done, return to the Omnivore dashboard once more and click on the Import from WooCommerce button to run another full sync which will also upload your products to the marketplace/s.
