TABLE OF CONTENTS

Copying Info from Your Store

Many retailers save time by copying content from their website into our listing template. If you do this, make sure to proofread carefully, keeping the following points in mind:

  • Logo URL

    • Must use HTTPS.

    • Example: https://yourstoredomain.com/content/uploads/yourimage.jpg

    • eBay will remove listings using an HTTP (non-secure) URL.

  • Prohibited Content

    • No emails, phone numbers, physical or shipping addresses, or other contact info.

    • No links of any kind.

  • Restricted Words

    • Avoid references to payment methods, payment types, or other restricted terms such as:
After Pay, Credit Card, Cheque, Email, Contact Us

    • eBay updates this list frequently, so check back regularly.

    • This FAQ provides a list of words to avoid - note this list is not comprehensive and you will need to review any error messages for further details.

Action Taken by eBay

If eBay detects any banned words or prohibited information, they will remove the listing from the marketplace. In Omnivore / eBay LINK, the affected product will appear under the Listings with Errors section on your Dashboard.

When you search for the de-listed product in Omnivore and open its product page, you may see an eBay Validation Error like this:

β€œThe item can't be listed or modified. The title and/or description may contain improper words, or the listing or seller may be in violation of eBay policy.”

This error is explained in the FAQ link provided regarding words to avoid.

How to Fix This Error

  • A common cause is prohibited words or phrases in your Product Template.

  • Check your template by going to: Settings β†’ eBay Australia β†’ Product Template in Omnivore.

  • Ensure none of the banned words appear in your listing template fields.

By reviewing and updating your template, you can prevent these validation errors from occurring in future listings.
