Overview

When you enable Fixed Price Offers (FPOs) on your Trade Me listings, they can affect how and when items are relisted after they fail to sell.

What is a Fixed Price Offer (FPO)?

A Fixed Price Offer (FPO) allows a seller to offer an item at a fixed price after a listing has ended without selling.

When a listing closes, Trade Me automatically sends a Fixed Price Offer to anyone who added the item to their watchlist. The offer price is the same as the original Buy Now price of the listing.

What You Need to Know

  • When a buyer accepts an FPO, an order is created in Trade Runner.

  • At the time the order is imported into Omnivore / Trade Runner, payment may not yet be confirmed.

  • If payment is unconfirmed, the order will be placed into Quarantine and will not be sent to your eCommerce store until you manually release it. Refer to the FAQ on managing Quarantined orders for further guidance.

  • You will receive an email when the buyer completes payment for a Fixed Price Offer.

How to Turn Fixed Price Offers On or Off

Fixed Price Offers are enabled by default.

If you do not want to enable them:

  1. Go to Settings → Trade Me → General in the left-hand navigation.

  2. Untick the checkbox “Enable negotiated payment through Fixed Price Offers” in the Your Products section to disable them.

  3. Click Update Settings to apply the change.

What Happens When a Fixed Price Offer Is Active

Once a listing ends without selling, Trade Me will automatically send a Fixed Price Offer to bidders or watchers.

  • The FPO uses the same price as the original listing’s Buy Now price.

  • A listing with an active Fixed Price Offer cannot relist until the offer expires unless you have enough stock to cover the FPO quantity, plus additional stock for the .

Example: If a product has a stock quantity of 1 and an FPO is sent, the item will not relist until the FPO expires.

Impact on Relisting

A product with an active Fixed Price Offer will not automatically relist until the FPO period ends.

  • The default duration for a Fixed Price Offer is 3 days.

  • This duration cannot be changed in Omnivore / Trade Runner — it is set by Trade Me and cannot be modified within the app.

  • If you disable Fixed Price Offers after the listing ends, an existing FPO will still run for its full duration.

Why This Matters

If you sell products with limited stock (e.g., only 1 unit):

  • Enabling Fixed Price Offers can delay the relist until the offer expires.

  • If the item does not sell via the FPO, Trade Me will relist it only after the FPO period ends.
