TABLE OF CONTENTS
eBay enables sellers to choose what type of category structure to display to buyers when they are browsing and searching within their eBay store.
eBay offers 2 options for this:
eBay Store Categories (Default Setting)
With this option, your store’s navigation automatically displays the eBay categories that match the categories your items are listed in.
This means the left-hand navigation in your eBay store will follow the standard eBay category structure, without any customisation needed from you.
This option is often preferred by sellers with a large number of listings because it reduces manual setup and saves time and is strongly recommended by Omnivore.
Custom Store categories
These are categories that you create yourself to organise your store in a way that best suits the products you sell.
You can create up to 300 custom categories and subcategories, with a maximum of three levels.
For example:
Sporting Goods → Golf → Balls
If you select this option but do not assign a Store category when creating a listing, eBay will automatically place the item into a category called “Other items.”
Important:
Omnivore currently does not support mapping products to custom eBay Store categories. If you want to use custom categories, you must assign them directly in eBay.
Instructions can be found in eBay’s help article: How do I set up custom categories in my eBay store?
