Before you begin

In this FAQ we will show you how to use Omnivore to map Amazon Attributes to a product.  Some things to keep in mind.

  1. If you reading this you are most likely on the new Amazon API's which means the attribute mapping section looks new and revised.
  2. Your product is mapped to an Amazon Category, therefore you are ready to add attributes because the category governs the required attributes.
  3. Because you are on the new API's you may need to redo some attribute mapping.

Quick guide to add attributes to a product

  1. In Omnivore find a product that needs attributes and click the title to view the product page.
  2. Scroll down to view the Amazon Product View section, see Product Attributes and this product tab.
  3. Apply the yellow section first, add text or choose from the drop down options to add data to the marketplace attribute.
  4. TIP - use the i and hover to read helpful prompts.
  5. Stay in the Product Attribute section and complete as many attributes as you can.
  6. When complete on the product page click the Upload to Amazon button.
  7. Along side using the fields to select your own data you can use the Import Attributes button in that section, this will check the Amazon Catalogue and import any attributes based on that Amazon Category.
  8. This completes the steps to apply Amazon attributes to one product in Omnivore.

Next steps to consider:

  1. It is perfectly normal to click upload to Amazon after completing this process only to find that Amazon still require attributes, the validation of attributes with Amazon (in the beginning) is not a one-time add and click experience. Especially with some categories.
  2. After all attributes are added and accepted by Amazon you may see an error about Brand Approval.  Let us know and we can assist with that.  Amazon is strict with brands and brand approval.
  3. Learning product attribute mapping is the first step, you can also click into the tab on the product page and apply attributes at the category level.
  4. Finally, for Shopify Sellers you can use your own product attributes that exist in Omnivore, these are the attributes we import from your Shopify Metafields
