Overview

You can now enhance your Trade Me listings by adding attributes to your products via Omnivore. There are 2 key benefits to adding attributes to your products:

  1. Improved search results through Search Filters - If you provide additional attribute data, it can be used to provide more specific search results helping buyers find the product they are searching for more quick;ly.
  2. Better product content for buyers to make a purchase decision - Adding additional product content is added to the description area on your product listing on Trade Me.

NB: Listings on Trade Me Motors don't show the product content on the listing, attributes are used for Search Filters only. e.g the attributes Colour, Brand and Type were provided for this product but that information is not shown on the product listing.

There are several ways you can add attributes to your products using Omnivore please read this FAQ entirely to best understand which method applies best to your need.

Summary and Key Points:

  1. Trade Me product attributes are set at the Trade Me Category level.   For example this Trade Me category Home - Marketplace - Antiques & collectables - Movie & TV memorabilia - Trading cards has the following attributes types and you can give values to these attributes:
  2. You must have your products mapped to a Trade Me category, if that trade me category has attributes attached to it (not all do) that category will show in Omnivore on the Marketplace Attributes Tab:
  3. If you cannot see any categories on this tab, you may not have products mapped to the trade me category that offers attribute data.
  4. You can set an attribute value to a single product in Omnivore (use Product)
  5. You can set attribute values to one of your store categories in Omnivore (use Category)
  6. You can apply category level attribute mapping, at the same time you can give one of those products a different attribute value, in this case the priority will be given to the single product attribute value for that one product.
  7. Changes made to attributes will be updated on the screen instantly, however an upload feed to Trade Me will be required to push the change to the actual listing/s.  You can do this from the Dashboard.

Product level attribute mapping

  1. Go to Products - Trade Me - Marketplace Attribute and tick Product under Add Attributes By.
  2. The screen will change and you will be able to individually scroll and use the drop downs to set your values.  As soon as you select them they are saved, the new value will be pushed up on the next upload feed to Trade Me.
  3. Use the Show / Hide Trade Me attributes green button to show or hide attributes in the search screen, for example you may only want to only see an attribute for Manufacturer so you will untick the others and click Update.  This setting is to show or hide attributes in your search.  It can be useful when there are several attributes and you just want to find one or two to map.
  4. Any attributes you set on this screen will be displayed for you on the actual product page in Omnivore, it will be under the Trade Me Product View - Product Attributes. tick Show all attributes section.  On the product page in Omnivore you can also assign attributes, it has the same function to quickly add attributes to a single product and at the category level as per below.  Setting category level attributes on a product page will apply to all products within that category even though you are applying it directly on a product page.
  5. This what your attributes will look like on Trade Me, they will be shown in the Details section of the listing.

Category level attribute mapping

  1. Go to Products - Trade Me - Marketplace Attribute and tick Category under Add Attributes.
  2. The screen will change and you will see the mapping options by using the drop downs.
  3. In our example Manufacturer will be bulk mapped to SAGE based on the Category Antiques & collectables» Movie & TV memorabilia» Trading cards.  If you have imported your own custom attributes you can use the first column option to map those attributes.
  4. If you find a product in Omnivore within that category you will see it is displayed in the Trade Me section of the product page under Product Attributes - tick Show all attributes.  On the product page you can also set Attributes at the Product Level and Category level using the two tabs.  Setting category level attributes on a product page will apply to all products within that category even though you are applying it directly on a product page.
  5. NOTE:  If you have attributes set at the individual product level that single mapping will be honoured if that same product is in a store category that has category mapping applied.  It will use the product level attribute mapping for that one product.
