This FAQ covers what is required to setup inventory by location in Omnivore for Shopify Sellers. With Omnivore you can set it up so that we look in one location to update inventory or multiple. You can also send orders to a store/location of choice using the app. Please read the information below to fully understand this feature. When you reach out to our support team feel free to also ask any questions, they are here to help.
About Shopify inventory by location
Omnivore supports Shopify Locations - multiple locations in your Shopify store so that you can track inventory and fulfill orders at your locations. Learn more about this Shopify feature in the Shopify help center.
With Omnivore you can choose which location/store in Shopify you want to use for your inventory on marketplaces.
You can tell Omnivore to look in one location, two or ALL locations.
If you would like to use this feature, please contact us so that we can set it up for you.Currently the setup has to be done by our support team.
When you contact our support team please ensure you include which location you would l like to set as your Default. Also please confirm which of the following scenarios suit your requirement:
- I want Omnivore to import inventory from 1 single Shopify Store/Location. For example, I have stores in Sydney, Brisbane and Cairns and I want Omnivore to import inventory from the Brisbane store only.
- I want Omnivore to import the total sum inventory from 2 or more Shopify Store/Locations but not all. For example, I have stores in Sydney, Brisbane, Cairns and Adelaide and I want Omnivore to import inventory from Sydney and Brisbane OR Sydney, Brisbane and Cairns, but not ALL stores..
- I want to send Omnivore orders to one specific Shopify store/location. See more about this function below.
Once you send us the your requirement based on the scenarios above we can complete the steps for you. Our support team will do a full import from Shopify after the change and monitor the inventory level and store information for accuracy.
Please note, if you add a new store in Shopify after setting this up, we will import that newly added store into Omnivore. It is advised that you let us know you have added a new store as this may change the setup that is in place. Please let us know in the future if you do add more stores in Shopify so we can check inventory against store locations for you.
Send orders to a specific Shopify store/location
We will make this setting change to 'Assign orders to a store' for you in in Omnivore. The information below explains in detail how it works once this is setup.
Assigning a new order to a selected Shopify location (location selected in Omnivore) is a 2 step process:
- Omnivore creates the order in Shopify at the location chosen by the Shopify setup. The API does not let us specify the location when the order is first created. The rules for order location are documented here - https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/fulfillment/setup/locations/setting-up-location-fulfillments
- If there is No Inventory at the Shopify location when the order is attempting to be created, the order will fail to be pushed to Shopify and will be a retailer notified failure order in Omnivore.
- If the order is successfully created in Shopify, then Omnivore will move the order to the selected location, i.e. what is selected on the Shopify Feed configuration under 'Assign orders to store'.
- If there is No Inventory at the store location selected in Omnivore, when we attempt to move the order to that store in Shopify it might fail to move. Adding inventory to the first and selected locations will ensure any failed orders in Omnivore can be sent to Shopify and then moved to the specified store.
