Getting Approval for Restricted Products on Amazon
Some product categories on Amazon are restricted or gated, meaning you must first obtain approval from Amazon before listing or selling those products.
Why Approval Is Required
Amazon restricts certain categories or brands to ensure product quality, authenticity, and compliance with regulations. If your product falls into one of these categories, you’ll need to request approval before Amazon will allow your listings to go live.
How to Request Approval
Sign in to your Amazon Seller Central account.
Go to Inventory > Add a Product.
Search for the product you want to list.
If the product is restricted, you’ll see a message that says something like “Apply to sell” or “Listing limitation.”
Click Apply to sell and follow the on-screen instructions to submit your application.
Amazon may ask you to provide additional documentation, such as:
Invoices from your supplier or manufacturer
Safety certificates or compliance documents
Brand authorisation letters (if required)
What Happens After You Apply
Amazon will review your application and either approve or deny it.
If approved: You can list the product in Omnivore as usual, and the listing will sync to Amazon.
If denied: You won’t be able to list the product on Amazon until you meet their requirements or receive approval.
Important Notes
Approval must be granted directly by Amazon — Omnivore cannot request approval on your behalf.
You can continue listing other, unrestricted products through Omnivore while waiting for approval.
If you try to list a restricted product without approval, Amazon will reject the listing and it will not appear on the marketplace.
