Information on how Amazon Brand Registry Works
Review how Amazon Brand Registry Works
This has been supplied by Maheen from Amazon
Sharing across some resources about Brand Registry. Feel free to share these with whichever brand teams you work with, to have access to various different permissions/actions under each role.
In brand registry, there are two types of roles: Protection roles, and Selling roles, both of which are used to determine a seller’s (i.e. your) relationship to the brand – whether the seller is internal to the brand or not, and if the brand has authorized the seller to act on behalf of the brand.
Protection roles:
- Rights owner: customer account who owns the IP rights to the brand
- Registered agent: someone who would report IP violation on behalf of the brand
- Administrator: authorized to add/manage protection and selling roles of the brand
Selling roles:
- Brand representative: MCID external to the brand that sells the brands products through amazon; for example, a Brand Rep might be either the legal rights owner to the brand, or a direct employee of the brand owner
- Authorised reseller: someone/entity external to the brand, who’s authorized to sell the brand products through Amazon.
Which role you would be assigned would depend on your relationship with the brand, and what rights they would like to assign to you, but typically we would see a seller be assigned as an authorized reseller (unless they would like to, & have approval of the brand, to report IP violations on behalf of the brand).
Note – in not all cases do you need to be an “authorized reseller” in order to sell a brand’s products on Amazon, as there are different levels of gating against different brands/ASINs on Amazon. However, by being added by the brand as “Authorised Reseller”, as well as obtaining a Letter of Authorisation, this will help to showcase your relationship with the brand, and that they acknowledge you as authorized to resell their products.
How to enroll Protection/Selling roles in Brand Registry
A CID with Administrator permissions will need to add you through Brand Registry by following the steps below:
1. Log into brand registry account
2. Go to “Settings” then “User Permissions”
3. An existing user will be listed under User Permissions. They can see what level of permissions you have (e.g. Brand Rep or Authorized Reseller). If you’re there, can you kindly request them to send a screenshot? Because it’s not showing you’re linked on my side. So I will try to resolve if your connection to the brand account isn’t updated correctly.
4. To add a new user: Click “Invite a user to your brand” and fill in the required information, then click “Send invitation” to Sanjay.bhati@signalbrands.com.au. When you get the email from them, then click to accept the invitation to be added.
The steps are below, under “Manage Brand Registry Users”; “Is it possible for agents that represent a brand, as well as additional users, to get access to Amazon Brand Registry?”
