Create Product Titles using Product Groups

Every retailer wants the best results for searchable products across marketplaces.

Omnivore has a great way to optimise using product groups to increase searchability across different marketplaces.

1. Navigate to the PRODUCTS menu on the left hand navigation of the selected retailer.

2. Select PRODUCT GROUP and then ADD PRODUCT GROUP

3. Create product group name include the product title and category you are creating it for e.g  “Product Titles for shorts”.  

4. Scroll down to the CATEGORY CODE text box and start typing the retailer category. The category name should auto populate. 

5. Click create product group. The user will be returned to the Product group page.  Check that the category is attached to the product group.

6. Navigate to the PRODUCTS menu on the left hand navigation and then select PRODUCT ACTIONS.

7. Select the CREATE PRODUCT NAME button . The users is then navigated to the EDIT PRODUCT NAME screen.

8. Enter the product name (product category), Select the relevant marketplace, add the product group you just created and then include the product naming convention to be displayed on the relevant marketplace e.g New $productName for Men by Gazman.

9.Select UPDATE and the user will be returned to the ACTIVE PRODUCT NAME screen.

10. Finally in order to apply your new product group titles you will need to navigate to the dashboard and select the UPLOAD TO MARKETPLACE button.

Some description elements to optimise your titles:


  • $sku – this is the SKU of your product.
  • $brandName – this is the brand name (if you have assigned one).
  • $retailerName – your store name.
  • $colours – if the product comes in different colours, the list of the colours as you described them, e.g. Coral, Midnight, Gunmetal
  • $standardColours - similar to $colours except the colour names are as mapped to the standard colour names, e.g. Pink, Black, Grey for the above example
  • $productName – the original title of a product.
  • $shortDescription - the short description of the product if provided.
  • $detailedDescription – the long description of the product if provided.
  • $amount – the products selling price e.g $89.95
  • $rrp - product's RRP price
  • $category - the category assigned to a product in the retailer feed/system.

*at the time of writing this How To there is a bug, so when you first add the category code in it won’t work.

Select edit on the product group you just created and go back in and re add the category code

select save or create product group again  it will then be set up.
