Overview

This article will show you step by step how to assign marketplace categories to your products.  


To access our Category Mapping Screen please follow either of these two steps to begin:


From the Dashboard see Need a category to list in - Fix Now OR from the left-hand menu navigation click Products > Marketplace Name (eg Kogan) > Need category to list

Both of these options will bring you to the Manage Listing - Need category screen. 


Options for Assigning a Category


There are 2 options to assign a category to products

  1.  Assign ALL products in one of your Retailer Categories to a chosen Marketplace Category (called Category to Category Mapping)
    • This is the quickest option if your retailer categories are well aligned to the marketplace category. For example, if your retailer category from your ecommerce store is Food Processors you can assign the eBay category 'Food Processors' so that ALL products from your retailer category are listed there.

    • This DOES NOT WORK if your retailer categories are NOT well aligned to the marketplace category. For example, if your retailer category is 'blenders' and it contains a variety of products including food processors, stick blenders, handheld blenders then there is not a corresponding category on eBay that matches it. You should then assign categories to individual products.

    • Create mapping rules - when you add new products to a category in your ecommerce store and a marketplace category has been assigned in our system we will import the new product and assign the category automatically so that the new product lists on the marketplace.

  2. Assign Products or a Product to a Marketplace Category (called Product Category Mapping)
    • If your retailer categories do not match marketplace categories then you will need to assign categories to individual products.


Assign By Mapping Your Website Category To A Marketplace Category


  1. From the Dashboard, click the Need a category to list in Fix Now link.
  2. By default, you will see your retailer categories listed (the Your Categories column).



  3. If any suggested categories show and you are happy with the suggestions, click the check box and the system will apply that category. Note that sugestions are not available for all marketplaces and / or categories.
  4. If the suggested category is not appropriate, click the Choose Category button.



  5. You have 3 options on this screen.  You can start typing by keyword to see the different categories available, select a previously used or suggested category, or navigate to the marketplace category tree to click, look and choose. Once you have selected a category, click Save category.



Assign By Mapping A Product To A Marketplace Category


  1. From the dashboard, click the Need a category to list in Fix Now link.
  2. By default, you will see your retailer categories listed. 
  3. Click Product so that you can view all of your individual products.



  4. If any suggested categories show and you are happy with the suggestions, click the check box and the system will apply that category. Note that sugestions are not available for all marketplaces and / or categories.
  5. If the suggested category is not appropriate, select the products you want to map by adding a tick in the left hand box and click the Choose Category button, or if you want to map more than 1 product click Choose a category to list in.



  6. You have 3 options on this screen.  You can start typing by keyword to see the different categories available, select a previously used or suggested category, or navigate to the marketplace category tree to click, look and choose. Once you have selected a category, click Save category.



  7. Remember you can assign the same marketplace category to more than 1 product by ticking the check box and clicking the Choose a category to list in button at the top of the table. To find similar products, search by keyword first then select all.
