Kmart Marketplace Product Listing Errors

Common Kmart Marketplace product listing errors in Omnivore and how to resolve them.

When Kmart Marketplace rejects a product or requires changes, Omnivore displays the error returned by Kmart against the affected product.

Use the error message below to identify what needs to be corrected. Depending on the error, you may need to update the product in Omnivore, change a marketplace setting, contact Omnivore Support, or contact Kmart Marketplace.


The product does not exist

Error message

The product does not exist

What it means

The product has been sent to Kmart Marketplace but has not yet been approved, or it has been rejected during the Kmart Marketplace approval process.

Common causes

  • The product is still awaiting approval by Kmart Marketplace.
  • Kmart Marketplace has rejected the product.
  • Product information needs to be corrected before the product can be approved.

What to do

  1. Log in to your Kmart Marketplace Mirakl account.
  2. Check the product status and any rejection reason provided by Kmart Marketplace.
  3. If changes are required, update the affected product information.
  4. If you made the change in Omnivore, select UPLOAD TO MARKETPLACE to send the updated product information to Kmart Marketplace.
  5. If the product is still awaiting approval and there is no rejection reason, wait for Kmart Marketplace to complete its review.

PRODUCT_TITLE_INVALID | Incorrect Product title format - Add brand at the beginning of title

Error message

PRODUCT_TITLE_INVALID | Incorrect Product title format - Add brand at the beginning of title

What it means

The product title being sent to Kmart Marketplace does not meet Kmart Marketplace title requirements.

For this error, the product brand needs to appear at the beginning of the title.

Common causes

  • The brand is missing from the beginning of the product title.
  • The title does not clearly identify the product.
  • The title needs to be formatted differently for Kmart Marketplace.

What to do

  1. Check the product title currently being sent to Kmart Marketplace.
  2. If you do not want to change the title used on your website or other marketplaces, create a Kmart Marketplace-specific title in Omnivore using Product Actions.
  3. Update the title so the brand appears at the beginning.
  4. Save the Product Action.
  5. Select UPLOAD TO MARKETPLACE to send the updated title to Kmart Marketplace.

INVALID_REQUIRED_ATTRIBUTE | Missing or incorrect mandatory attribute

Example:

Validation Error: 1000|The attribute 'age_range' (Age range) is required

What it means

One or more product attributes required by Kmart Marketplace are missing or contain a value Kmart Marketplace cannot accept.

The required attributes vary depending on the product category.

Common causes

  • A mandatory attribute has not been completed.
  • An attribute contains an incorrect or unsupported value.
  • A value has been supplied where Kmart Marketplace requires the field to be blank.
  • The product is mapped to a category with different mandatory attribute requirements.

What to do

  1. Read the complete error shown against the product to identify the attribute Kmart Marketplace is rejecting.
  2. Check that the product is mapped to the correct Kmart Marketplace category.
  3. Correct the missing or invalid Kmart Marketplace attribute in Omnivore.
  4. If the error specifically tells you to leave an attribute blank, remove the value rather than entering 0, N/A or another placeholder.
  5. Save the change.
  6. Select UPLOAD TO MARKETPLACE to send the updated product information to Kmart Marketplace.
  7. If you cannot identify or update the required attribute, contact Omnivore Support and provide the product SKU and complete error message.

IMAGE_CONTAINS_SELLER_BRANDING | Branding seller logos or promotional text are not allowed on images

What it means

Kmart Marketplace has rejected one or more product images because they contain seller branding, logos, promotional wording or other text that is not allowed.

Common causes

  • Seller logos are included on the image.
  • Promotional text or marketing messages are overlaid on the image.
  • Text has been added to highlight product features, pricing or offers.
  • The image contains other branding that is not part of the product itself.

What to do

  1. Check the product images being sent to Kmart Marketplace.
  2. Identify any images that contain seller branding, logos, promotional text or other added text.
  3. Remove or replace the affected image.
  4. If you only need to change the image for Kmart Marketplace, use Omnivore's Image Enhancements features to manage the marketplace-specific image.

  • The description needs to be different for Kmart Marketplace.

Kmart Marketplace requires a barcode for the product, but no barcode is being supplied.

Common causes

  • The barcode field is blank in your ecommerce platform.
  • The barcode has been entered in the wrong field in your ecommerce platform.
  • Omnivore has imported the product without a barcode value.

What to do

  1. Open the product in your ecommerce platform.
  2. Add the product barcode to the correct barcode field used by your ecommerce platform.
  3. Save the product.
  4. Allow Omnivore to import the updated product information.
  5. Check the product in Omnivore to confirm the barcode is now showing.
  6. Select UPLOAD TO MARKETPLACE to send the updated product information to Kmart Marketplace.

NOT_IN_APPROVED_RANGE | Product not included on approved range

Error message

NOT_IN_APPROVED_RANGE|Product not included on approved range

What it means

Kmart Marketplace has rejected the product because it is not included in the product range approved for your seller account.

Common causes

  • The product falls outside your approved Kmart Marketplace range.
  • The product category or product type has not been approved for your account.
  • The product was added after your approved range was set and has not yet been authorised by Kmart Marketplace.

What to do

  1. Check that the product is intended to be part of your approved Kmart Marketplace range.
  2. If the product is outside your approved range, it cannot be listed unless Kmart Marketplace approves it
  3. and should be blocked or excluded in Omnivore.
  4. Contact Kmart Marketplace and provide the product SKU and details of the product you want added.

PRODUCT_PROHIBITED | Product does not comply with accepted products as per guidelines

Error message

Validation Error: PRODUCT_PROHIBITED|Product does not comply with accepted products as per guidelines.

What it means

Kmart Marketplace has rejected the product because it does not meet its accepted product guidelines.

This error does not identify the specific reason the product has been rejected.

Common causes

  • The product is not permitted for sale on Kmart Marketplace.
  • The product falls outside the types of products approved for your Kmart Marketplace range.
  • Kmart Marketplace has identified a product compliance or ranging issue that requires review.

What to do

  1. Check the product and any other validation errors shown for the same listing, as another error may provide more detail about why the product was rejected.
  2. Confirm that the product is permitted for sale on Kmart Marketplace and is within your approved product range.
  3. If the product is not permitted, it cannot be listed on Kmart Marketplace and should be blocked or excluded in Omnivore.
  4. If you believe the product should be accepted, contact Kmart Marketplace and provide the product SKU and complete validation error so they can confirm why the product has been rejected.

The 'sku' field is duplicated in the source file

What it means

The same SKU appears more than once in the product data being sent to Kmart Marketplace.

Each product and variant must have a unique SKU.

Common causes

  • Two or more products in your ecommerce platform use the same SKU.
  • The same product has been included more than once in the source product data.
  • A variant has been assigned the same SKU as another variant or product.

What to do

  1. Check the affected products in your ecommerce platform.
  2. Find any products or variants using the same SKU.
  3. Update the duplicate SKU so each product or variant has its own unique SKU or block the product from listing to Kmart.
  4. Save the changes in your ecommerce platform.

1000 | The attribute 'contains_button_cell' (Contains button cell) is required

Error message

Validation Error: 1000|The attribute 'contains_button_cell' (Contains button cell) is required

What it means

Kmart Marketplace requires the Contains button cell attribute to be completed for the product.

The value must indicate whether the product contains a button cell battery.

Common causes

  • The Contains button cell attribute has not been completed.
  • The product is in a Kmart Marketplace category where this attribute is mandatory.
  • No value has been set at the product, category or site level in Omnivore.

What to do

  1. Open the affected product in Omnivore.
  2. Go to the Marketplace Attributes section.
  3. Find Contains button cell.
  4. Select:
    • TRUE if the product contains a button cell battery.
    • FALSE if it does not.
  5. Save the change.
  6. If the same value applies to multiple products, you can set the attribute at a category or site level instead of updating products individually.

What it means

The Kmart Marketplace category currently mapped to the product is no longer recognised.

This usually means the category has been deprecated or replaced by Kmart Marketplace.

Common causes

  • The existing Kmart Marketplace category has been retired.
  • Kmart Marketplace has changed its category structure.
  • The product is still mapped to an old category value in Omnivore.

What to do

  1. Check the Kmart Marketplace category currently assigned to the product in Omnivore.
  2. Update the category mapping to the current Kmart Marketplace category.
  3. Save the new mapping.
  4. Select UPLOAD TO MARKETPLACE to send the updated category to Kmart Marketplace.

Category mapping has been configured directly in your Kmart Marketplace Mirakl account.

These Mirakl-side mappings will always conflict with the category mapping sent by Omnivore and prevent the Kmart category from being identified correctly.

What to do

  1. Log in to your Kmart Marketplace Mirakl account.
  2. Go to the catalogue mapping configuration area.
  3. Remove the existing category mappings from Mirakl.
  4. Make sure all category mappings created directly in Mirakl have been removed.
  5. Return to Omnivore.
  6. Check that your Kmart Marketplace category mappings are correct in Omnivore.

The Kmart Marketplace category currently mapped to the product is too broad.

Kmart requires products to be mapped to a leaf category, which is the most specific category available in the Kmart Marketplace category structure.

Common causes

  • The product is mapped to a parent category instead of a final leaf category.
  • Kmart Marketplace has changed its category structure and the existing mapping is no longer specific enough.

What to do

  1. Check the Kmart Marketplace category currently mapped to the product in Omnivore.
  2. Update the category mapping to the most specific applicable Kmart Marketplace category.
  3. Save the new mapping.

  2. Reduce the description to 7,000 characters or fewer.
  3. If you do not want to shorten the description used on your website or other marketplaces, create a shorter Kmart Marketplace-specific description in Omnivore using Product Actions.
  4. Save the change.
  5. Select UPLOAD TO MARKETPLACE to send the updated description to Kmart Marketplace.

What it means

The brand value being sent for the product does not match the brand value accepted by Kmart Marketplace.

Brand values must match the Kmart Marketplace value exactly, including capitalisation, spacing and punctuation.

Common causes

  • The brand in your product data is different from the Kmart Marketplace brand value.
  • The brand uses different capitalisation, spacing or punctuation.
  • A brand mapping is required between your existing brand value and the Kmart Marketplace value.

What to do

  1. Check the brand currently shown against the product in Omnivore.
  2. Contact Omnivore Support and provide the affected product SKU and the correct Kmart Marketplace brand value.
  3. Omnivore Support can map your existing brand value to the value required by Kmart Marketplace.
  4. Once the mapping has been applied, select UPLOAD TO MARKETPLACE to send the updated product information to Kmart Marketplace.

2019 | The attribute 'product_id_ean_isbn' (Unique product identifier) must be a valid product reference

Error message

What it means

The barcode or product identifier being sent to Kmart Marketplace is not in a valid supported format.

Kmart Marketplace accepts the following product identifier formats:

  • EAN-8
  • UPC
  • EAN-13
  • ISBN-10
  • ISBN-13

Common causes

  • The barcode entered in your ecommerce platform is invalid.
  • The barcode contains the wrong number of digits.
  • An internal SKU or other product reference has been entered in the barcode field instead of a valid barcode.
  • The barcode has been entered in the wrong field in your ecommerce platform.

What to do

  1. Open the affected product in your ecommerce platform.
  2. Check the barcode or product identifier entered for the product.
  3. Confirm it is a valid EAN-8, UPC, EAN-13, ISBN-10 or ISBN-13 value.
  4. Correct the barcode in the appropriate barcode field in your ecommerce platform.
  5. Save the product and allow Omnivore to import the updated information.
  6. Check the product in Omnivore to confirm the corrected barcode is showing.

2031 | The 'product_title' or 'product_description' attribute cannot contain the word(s)

Error message

Validation Error: 2031|The 'product_title' (Product title) attribute cannot contain the word(s): knife electric knife,2031|The 'product_description' (Product Description) attribute cannot contain the word(s): knife electric knife; PRODUCT_PROHIBITED|Product does not comply with accepted products as per guidelines.

What it means

Kmart Marketplace has identified wording in the product title or description that is associated with a product that is not accepted under its marketplace guidelines.

In this example, the restricted terms are knife and electric knife.

Common causes

  • The product itself is not permitted for sale on Kmart Marketplace.
  • The product title contains a restricted product term.
  • The product description contains a restricted product term.
  • The product content has triggered Kmart Marketplace's prohibited-product validation.

What to do

  1. Check whether the product itself is permitted for sale on Kmart Marketplace.
  2. If the product is prohibited, it cannot be listed on Kmart Marketplace so should be blocked or excluded in Omnivore
  3. If the product is permitted but the title or description contains wording that Kmart Marketplace does not accept, review the affected content.
  4. Only change the wording if the revised title or description still accurately describes the product. Do not remove important product information simply to bypass the validation.
  5. If you need to use different content for Kmart Marketplace, you can create a marketplace-specific title or description in Omnivore using Product Actions.
  6. If you believe the product is permitted and the error has been triggered incorrectly, contact Kmart Marketplace to confirm whether the product is allowed.
