Quick Overview of the Magento Solution with Omnivore
Understand Magento setup, syncing, listings, and orders.
Installation and Set Up
We have a Magento 2 extension available. The extension connects to Magento via the APIs so it will not conflict with any customizations that you may have made to Magento.
The Magento 2 Plugin for Omnivore includes Magento 2 Webhooks as an inventory and product syncing method.
Products, Syncing and Product Types.
The Omnivore System supports Simple, Configurable and Group Product Types from Magento.
Here is a full list of all Magento product types.
The system will do a full product sync with your Magento store every 24 hours, this is usually scheduled around Midnight however you can schedule this to happen more than once in a 24 hour period at different times throughout the day.
In between each product sync, inventory is updated across the system and your linked Marketplace every 20-60 minutes, but this will vary depending on the total number of products we import from Magento, the number of inventory updates to process and the marketplace you are pushing products. For a Retailer with around 3,000 products pushing to eBay it will complete in around 20-30 minutes.
Orders
The system will check marketplaces for Orders every 5-10 minutes. When an order is found, we import the order into the system and send it through to Magento for fulfilment and update the inventory in Magento.
In the event that there is a problem sending the order from the system to Magento, you will receive a notification via email and also in the dashboard. The problem is usually a quarantined order i.e payment for the order has not been confirmed or a Retailer Notified Failure where there is no stock for an item.
Product Listing & Optimisations
Category Mapping
All products listed on a marketplace must be assigned to a marketplace category. In Omnivore, this process is known as Category Mapping.
For example:
- Your store category may be Women's Shoes
- The marketplace category may be Women's Shoes > High Heels
Category Mapping allows you to link your store's categories to the most suitable marketplace categories. This ensures your products are listed in the correct location on the marketplace and meet the marketplace's listing requirements.
Once a category has been mapped, products within that category can be successfully listed on the marketplace.
Blocking Products
If there are products you do not want to list on a marketplace, Omnivore provides several ways to block them:
- Search for and select individual products to exclude.
- Block products based on specific keywords.
- Block products by brand.
This gives you control over which products are published to each marketplace.
Pricing
Use the Promotions feature to adjust pricing across your catalogue. You can:
- Increase or decrease prices for specific groups of SKUs.
- Apply pricing changes to all products at once.
- Create marketplace-specific pricing strategies without affecting your Magento store pricing.
Product Titles
Use Omnivore to optimise your product titles for marketplace search results.
For example, you can create rules to automatically:
- Add the product brand to the title.
- Include colour, size, or other key attributes.
- Add promotional terms such as NEW where appropriate.
Optimised product titles can help improve visibility and increase the likelihood of customers finding your products on marketplaces.
Product Bundles
Create bundles by combining multiple products into a single marketplace listing.
For example, if you sell home appliances, you could bundle a kettle and toaster together and set a custom bundle price. This allows you to create value-added offers and increase average order value without making changes to your Magento catalogue.
